When you are scheduling the seconds make sure you have a place for the materials to be delivered. We call those “drops” The supplier will drop the materials at the job. 

If you have the concrete poured and there is form boards scattered all over the lot and the lumber company shows up with the first drop of lumber, where is he going to drop it? This makes the drivers very frustrated, and they will remember this when you schedule the next drop. 

They may just take their time on getting there. 

To avoid this mess always have a clean space big enough for a truck with a roll off delivery, or room for a forklift to get in, set the load and get out. 

In some situations where the ground is so wet we have built raised platforms to keep the lumber out of the water and off the ground. The forklift can simply set the drop right on top of the raised platforms. 

If you go that route, you need to make sure the framers pull from that drop and leave it empty before the next drop arrives. This will make the drivers happy; it will make the framers happy the lumber is not sitting in water and make the lumber stay dry longer.  

Most Importantly make sure there is a place for the materials to be dropped before the truck gets there.
